Zendaya triumphantly returned to the Met Gala red carpet after a five-year hiatus. The star was dressed in a custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano and jewelry from Bulgari.
Dressed by her longtime collaborator, image architect Law Roach, Zendaya‘s dress nodded to Dior’s spring 1999 couture collection, which was also designed by Galliano.
The actress wore dramatic makeup inspired by Margiela’s couture 2024 runway show, where models walked the runway in viral beauty looks created by Pat McGrath.
Zendaya’s outfit was completed with a dramatic headpiece featuring a singular large feather.
Zendaya was chosen as one of this year’s Met Gala co-chairs, joining Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth.
Zendaya first attended the Met Gala in 2015, when she wore a dress designed by Fausto Puglisi. She returned to the event in 2016 wearing Michael Kors, in 2017 wearing Dolce & Gabbana, in 2018 dressed by Atelier Versace and, most notably, she wore a Cinderella-inspired gown in 2019 created by Tommy Hilfiger and Hussein Chalayan.
The Met Gala raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” nods to the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit, which will open to the public on Friday. The 2024 event is notably co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour.
