Steelers updated mock draft after the DK Metcalf trade

With the first wave of free agency in the books, it’s time for us to update our seven-round mock draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The only move of any significance the Steelers have made so far this offseason wasn’t in free agency at all. Instead, the Steelers sent second and seventh-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for wide receiver DK Metcalf and a sixth-round pick.

Here is our updated seven-round mock draft after the first wave of free agency and the big trade.

First round – DT Kenneth Grant – Michigan

It would be a huge stroke of luck if Grant falls to the Steelers in the first round after the team failed to address the defensive line in free agency and released Larry Ogunjobi.

Third round – QB Jalen Milroe – Alabama

Easily the most athletic quarterback in the draft but a project who needs time to develop more consistency as a passer.

Fourth round – RB DJ Giddens – Kansas State

One of the fastest running backs in the draft and more of a patient runner than a back who runs with aggression and violence.

Fifth round – CB O’Donnell Fortune – South Carolina

Fortune is a converted safety with great length and strength as an off-zone coverage specialist.

Sixth round – OL Emergy Jones Jr. – LSU

Raw but promising prospect who was miscast at LSU at tackle but has much more potential as an NFL guard.

Seventh round – WR Kyren Lacy – LSU

Steelers take a flyer here on Lacy. He might never be able to get his life together to have an impact in the NFL but he’s got Top 50 skills so there’s no risk in picking him here.
