Soho House to Open First Outpost in Milan in a Historic Building

MILAN, AT LAST: After years of speculation, Soho House is landing in Milan.

The members-only club format has zeroed in on a historic six-story building for its second outpost in the country, following a location that opened in Rome in 2021.

Scheduled to open in a couple of years, the Milanese unit will stand between the city’s central Piazza San Babila and Corso Indipendenza, occupying the 1930s building that formerly housed the Cinema Arti movie theater and, more recently, an Olympian boxing gym. A renovation aims to turn the location in a destination comprehensive of a courtyard, a rooftop terrace and pool, a gym as well as more than 50 bedrooms.

The interior design will respect the rationalist style of the original architecture by focusing on clean lines, mixed with art and design pieces celebrating the local craftsmanship.

While it will take some more time for Milan-based and international creatives to connect at the club, the company founded in 1995 by Nick Jones has already activated its Cities Without Houses” membership program. This enables members from all over the world to interact even in places where there are no Soho House outposts via unique events and experiences, as well as access the 43 Soho House location globally when they travel.

“We have been building a vibrant community of Cities Without Houses members in Milan for eight years and have wanted to open a House in the city for some time,” said Dominique Bellas, membership director of Cities Without Houses. She underscored that the long scouting process in the city was due to the fact that “finding the right home for our members is a really important decision and we’ve considered several options.”

Priced at 192 euros per month or 92 euros per month for creatives aged under 27, the Cities Without Houses membership currently operates in 85 cities globally, spanning North America, Europe, APAC, Africa and Latin America.

The location in Milan will add to the one in Rome’s San Lorenzo neighborhood featuring a rooftop pool, Cecconi’s Terrazza, a Cowshed spa, movement studios, a screening room, 49 bedrooms and 20 long-stay apartments.

Coming up next, Soho House will make its debut in Madrid and will add a third location in Barcelona.
