In a nod to the season, Queen Letizia of Spain wore an outfit in autumnal tones during her visit to Milan for World Cancer Research Day. The event, held on Thursday and organized by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), took place at the Institute of Molecular Oncology, emphasizing cancer research collaborations between Spain and Italy.
For the occasion, Queen Letizia chose a brick red dress by Ferragamo, a piece she has worn at previous public events.
The silk dress featured a rounded neckline, long sleeves with fitted cuffs at the elbow and a cinched waist to define the silhouette of the otherwise flowing dress.
Queen Letizia paired the dress with a classic trenchcoat and and a small, top-handle Furla 1927 bag featuring a botanical print. The Spanish royal completed her look with a pair of neutral pumps and statement earrings with red accents.
Queen Letizia previously wore this Ferragamo design from the 2019 spring collection for royal engagements in 2019 and 2021.
Before her appearance in Milan, Queen Letizia attended the opening of the 2024-25 season at the Royal Theater in Madrid on Monday. For the occasion, she embraced subdued elegance with a classic little black dress featuring a feminine silhouette and distressed appliqué elements. The dress was from H&M’s conscious collection, highlighting the brand’s commitment to sustainability.
In March 2022, Ferragamo appointed Maximilian Davis as the new creative director of the Italian luxury fashion house. The brand recently unveiled its spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection during Milan Fashion Week. “Some of the clothes had drama, especially billowing opera coats in suede or nylon, cocoon-shaped evening dressed and voluptuous leather blousons and peacoats,” WWD’s Miles Socha wrote of the collection in his review.
