A pedestrian was hit and killed in a crash early Saturday morning, Independence police said.
Around 2 a.m., a 2003 Ford F-150 was traveling east on U.S. 40 Highway, east of Crysler Avenue, when the truck hit a pedestrian in the road.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-150 remained at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation, police said in a release.
According to police, a witness told officers the pedestrian was walking in the lane of traffic when they were hit.
Police did not provide an age or gender for the victim.
No other information was available Saturday. An investigation is ongoing.
