LSU quarterback Colin Hurley was hospitalized after an early morning car crash Thursday.
According to WBRZ, Hurley was driving a Dodge Charger that crashed into a tree on the south edge of LSU’s campus. When he was found by EMS personnel, he was unresponsive.
From WBRZ:
Officials said Hurley was unresponsive but breathing. A crash report said firefighters pulled Hurley out of his vehicle. He was in and out of consciousness and had a large cut on his face.
The cause of the crash has not been released, but officials said impairment was not suspected.
Hurley’s family issued a statement Thursday afternoon and said that he would make a full recovery from the crash. The statement did not give any details on the extent of Hurley’s injuries.
“Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health and the many Tiger fans for their care and compassion. Colin is resting and stable while more tests and care are being administered. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident.”
Hurley was a true freshman in 2024 and did not throw a pass this season. He was 16 when he arrived on LSU’s campus in January 2024 as an early enrollee after he reclassified to the high school class of 2024. The Jacksonville, Florida, native was a four-star recruit according to Rivals and was the No. 20 pro-style quarterback in his class.
With the return of starting QB Garrett Nussmeier to the Tigers in 2025, Hurley is set to compete with Mississippi State transfer Michael Van Buren to be Nussmeier’s backup next season. Van Buren was Mississippi State’s primary starter as a freshman in 2024.
