Former Vols by the numbers in 2025 MLB Week 5

Week 5 of the 2025 MLB season has concluded.

Four former Vols played in MLB during Week 5: Jordan Beck (Colorado), Chase Dollander (Colorado), Garrett Crochet (Boston) and Seth Halvorsen (Colorado).

Trey Lipscomb (Washington) was assigned to Triple-A Rochester with the return of C.J. Abrams to the Nationals’ lineup on April 25. The former Vol did not appear in a game for Washington during Week 5.

Ben Joyce (Angels) was also placed on the 15-day injured list April 11, retroactive to April 9, due to right shoulder inflammation.

Below are performances from former Vols during Week 5 of the 2025 MLB season.

Jordan Beck

Beck hit his first three home runs of the season across two games of a doubleheader at Kansas City on April 24. He opened a series against the Reds with solo home runs in the sixth and eighth innings on April 25.

Beck is the first player to hit his first five home runs of the season in a two-day span since Ty Cobb did it in 1925.

Chase Dollander

Dollander suffered his third loss of the season in the second game of Colrado’s doubleheader against the Royals on April 24.

He struck out three batters, while surrendering seven hits, five runs and two walks in 4.2 innings.

Garrett Crochet

Crochet suffered his second loss of the season against the Mariners on April 24.

He logged nine strikeouts, while allowing five hits, five walks and all four of Seattle’s runs in five innings.

Seth Halvorsen

Colorado led the Royals, 3-2, in the ninth inning when Halvorsen appeared in the contest on April 22. He allowed two hits and one run that extended the game to extra innings.

Halvorsen was the Rockies’ closer in the series opener against Cincinnati on April 25. He totaled 11 pitches and one strikeout.

The Rockies trailed by one run in the eighth inning when Halvorsen entered the game from the bullpen on April 26. He only needed eight pitches in the inning to retire Cincinnati’s batters from line drives and a groundout to third base.
