EXCLUSIVE: Lanvin Relocates South Coast Plaza Boutique With New Design

Lanvin has unveiled a new boutique in Southern California, after relocating at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif.

“Lanvin is pleased to open a new South Coast Plaza boutique with the radically chic vision of Bernard Dubois, who has signed the new architectural concept for Lanvin retail globally,” said Lanvin’s deputy general manager Siddhartha Shukla in an exclusive statement to WWD. “His understanding of the house through a neoclassical lens, with subtle, implicit attention to decoration, and the rigor with which he executes that understanding — has made for an extraordinary spatial and sensorial experience, an ideal context to showcase the new Lanvin.”

Lanvin first showcased Dubois’ architectural design — inspired by Neoclassical and Art Deco styles — last summer with the opening of its Madison Avenue flagship. At 1,540 square feet, the new space at South Coast Plaza features similar details: enfilades (interior rooms aligning with each other), symmetries and columns. The decor, looking to evoke the South of France, includes the use of natural stones and materials like marmorino, limestone, brass and beige velvet.

Officially opened on Friday, the new shop is located on level one in the Saks wing of the shopping mall. (The former location was on the second floor.) Its selection includes women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, leather goods, accessories, footwear, along with “Edition Soir,” the brand’s men’s and women’s eveningwear. There’s also a dedicated section for Lanvin Lab, its collaborative endeavor that has included special releases with rapper Future and artist Erwin Wurm.

Lanvin parted ways with its creative director Bruno Sialelli last year and has yet to name a new artistic director, but the brand has continued to court Hollywood, dress VIPs and host events, including a dinner with Charles Finch during the Cannes Film Festival last month with Catherine Deneuve and Cate Blanchett attending. That followed the opening of a Lanvin pop-up boutique in Cannes, France.

This marks Lanvin’s seventh boutique in the U.S., with existing locations in Beverly Hills, Miami, Bal Harbour, Fla., Las Vegas and two in New York in SoHo and the Upper East Side.
