Our Policy Forum emphasizes that randomized evaluations of today’s public preschool programs have found positive, null, and even negative effects during the school years and early adulthood. We call for greater attention to determining what produces positive longer-term impacts of preschool programs, but not the defunding of current programs. In response, García disputes our descriptions of data gaps. We disagree with his conclusions.
