Demi Lovato helped Jimmy Fallon celebrate his 50th birthday with an appearance on “The Tonight Show” on Thursday. Lovato was supporting her new Hulu movie “Child Star” and her engagement while wearing a Vivienne Westwood set.
Working with stylist Jill Jacobs, Lovato wore a shrunken red and brown jacket from Vivienne Westwood. Done in a tartan, the piece featured long sleeves as well as notched lapels. Asymmetric in design, the tailoring made it appear as if the buttons are misaligned, causing the jacket to fold and gather at various parts and sculpted the curves of the body. The singer wore the blazer with a skirt of the same tartan and a pair of slick red patent-leather Le Silla stiletto pumps featuring small crystal embellishments. The look channeled the TikTok-viral office siren trend, which mixes power ’90s and 2000s-inspired power dressing with a sensual twist.
Instead of a handbag, Lovato carried a Fudgie the Whale cake for Fallon’s birthday when she arrived on set.
While on the late-night show, Lovato flashed an engagement ring. “We got engaged in December and met with a wedding planner like a month later,” she said. “I want to be ahead of it — I don’t want to be stressed.” Fiancé Jordan Lutes, who is also a musician, gave Lovato a pear-shaped diamond ring from Teresa Panico at Material Good.
Lovato’s golden brown hair was styled shoulder-length with loose curls at the end, done by Danielle Priano. For makeup, she wore a bold plum colored lip with burgundy liner and light pink eye shadow applied by Angie Mar.
“I’ve always wanted to direct,” Lovato told Fallon. “I’ve codirected a couple music videos and so when this project started to gain traction, it just made the most sense for me to codirect it with my codirector Nicola Marsh. It was a no-brainer.”
While promoting her directorial debut on “Good Morning America” earlier this week, Lovato wore a boxy gray suit from Loewe with matching trousers. The singer carried a black By Far shoulder bag.
The film features the likes of Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson and JoJo Siwa discussing the realities of being a star as a child.
Last year, Lovato, who identified as nonbinary in 2021, announced that she no longer uses “they/them” as pronouns.
Hillary Clinton also joined the show to promote her new book “Something Lost, Something Gained.” For the appearance, she wore a relaxed black suit and a tan shirt with scalloped Manolo Blahnik kitten-heels.
