Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland came together in New York on Tuesday to support Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, who was honored at Glamour‘s Women of the Year Awards 2024. The trio of ladies styled looks that spoke to their own individual approaches to fashion, including pieces off the runway.
Beyoncé opted for a beaming yellow and gold look courtesy of Sergio Hudson’s spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The look, which made its runway debut during New York Fashion Week last September, gave the effect of elevated ’60s attire, with a yellow knit, short-sleeve top with a rounded neckline and a gold silk maxi skirt. A coordinated belt also featured at the waist for a slim silhouette.
When it came to her glam, Beyoncé continued her reference to the ’60s with voluminous short blond hair. Her makeup featured a smokey eye. Kelly Rowland opted for a different sartorial route when it came to her attire for the awards ceremony.
The singer and former Destiny’s Child member wore a look from Gaurav Gupta’s spring 2023 couture collection. The look, which made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week in January 2023, featured a cascading glittering gold effect against black fabric.
The suited style also featured sharp shoulders with a plunging neckline. Rowland wore her hair in subtle curls with a side part and makeup featuring bold eyes and brows with a soft lip.
As for Knowles, she opted for a design courtesy of Amsale. Knowles’ dress for the event featured hand-crafted orchid petals, which were shaped utilizing bendable wire. The design was inspired by her own unique approach to fashion and her silhouette, with close collaboration on tailoring and petal placement on the garment. The Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2024 honoree, along with other mothers of successful stars, was recognized for her influence on the careers of her children while forging her own path as a fashion designer, philanthropist and businesswoman.
During her speech, Knowles reflected on her life and her role as Beyoncé and Solange Knowles’s mother. “I was somewhat of a rebellious teen and a young adult…but the day that I became a mother, I decided that this was one thing that I wouldn’t screw up.”
Knowles and Beyoncé have a longstanding history of collaborating. Throughout Beyoncé’s time in Destiny’s Child, Knowles designed the group’s costumes, and in February she helped launched Beyoncé’s new Cécred hair care line in her role as the brand’s vice chairwoman.
The Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2024 celebrate women and their contributions to various fields and disciplines, from entertainment to broader cultural impacts. Honorees included Serena Williams, gymnast Suni Lee, Olympic athlete Allyson Felix, environmental advocate Maggie Baird, social activist Mandy Teefey, and abortion rights activists Hadley Duvall and Kaitlyn Joshua, among others.
