BG’S ARMANI CONNECTION: Giorgio Armani will be making a rare appearance at Bergdorf Goodman to mingle with the store team and top customers for a private event during his time in New York City.
The legendary designer will be coming to the Big Apple next week to celebrate some milestone moments and to visit Bergdorf Goodman.
Armani turned 90 this year, but is not standing still. In New York, he will celebrate the opening of his Madison Avenue mixed-use flagship, entirely redesigned with residential units, an Armani/Ristorante and the new Giorgio Armani and Armani/Casa boutiques. Coinciding with the unveiling, Armani has decided to parade his namesake brand’s spring 2025 collection in New York and not in Milan. The fashion show is scheduled to take place on Thursday and is to be followed by a party.
Bergdorf Goodman executives said the luxury store will be the only destination, outside of the Giorgio Armani flagship on Madison Avenue, that Armani will visit, and where customers will be able to access the designer’s new collection, which pays homage to New York City.
The collection of ready-to-wear and accessories for women and men confirms the essential and timeless style that defines Armani by revisiting the 1980s era of power suiting with reimagined masculinity, fluid lines and neutral colors, ranging from gray to beige to greige, with an ever-present touch of black.
“I have a long-standing connection with Bergdorf Goodman, as it was my brand’s entry into the United States,” Armani told WWD. “Collaborating on a special project to celebrate the relationship between Armani and New York felt natural. Given our mutual affinity, Bergdorf was the ideal partner to convey a message of timeless metropolitan elegance. Our shared loyalty adds another layer of significance to this collaboration.”
Linda Fargo, Bergdorf’s senior vice president of fashion and director of store presentation, said: “The relationship between Bergdorf Goodman and Giorgio Armani goes back decades, ever since we brought his women’s collection to American audiences for the first time. Mr. Armani’s genius is in everything he touches and the new collection, a love letter to New York City, is imbued with his signature timeless aesthetic. We are immensely honored to host Mr. Armani during his time in New York during which we will celebrate our longstanding friendship.”
Armani fashion will take over Bergdorf’s Fifth Avenue windows which evoke the bright lights of the city, with vivid bulbs that accentuate the New York collection. Inside the store, displays with standout pieces are on the main and third floors, adjacent to the brand’s shop.
The timing of Armani’s visit to Bergdorf’s is not being disclosed as it will be a private affair.
