Ariana Grande bundled up in a massive black puffer jacket while arriving at CBS Studios in New York on Tuesday. The “Wicked” star has been tirelessly promoting the newly released first installment of the two-part musical film adaptation, directed by Jon M. Chu, as has her costar, Cynthia Erivo.
Grande signed autographs on her way to the studio, showing off her pink base, white-tip French manicure along with her hand tattoos.
Her full-length, hooded jacket revealed an interior with muted green, mauve and cream stripes — which could be a nod to the method dressing palette of green and pink the “Wicked” film inspires. Grande completed the look with her signature pony tail, a shimmering, choker-style necklace and black square-toed pumps.
The “Wicked” star has favored volume in the past, especially when it comes to her winter outerwear. Last January, she wore a Mumshandmade Hooded Chunky Cardigan while singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on Instagram.
Back in 2019, she helped New York-based label Area go viral when she wore the brand’s cropped puffer jacket featuring crystal trim for her “In My Head” music video. She has also embraced volume and playful silhouettes for the red carpet premieres of “Wicked,” including designs by Oscar de la Renta, Vivienne Westwood, Thom Browne and Atelier Versace, among others.
The puffer silhouette, a jacket style popularized in the early 2000s that is often quilted and features a voluminous, insulated design for warmth and comfort during colder months, is making something of a comeback. Last March, Meghan Markle joined close friends on a trip to Utah wearing the long, black Aritizia Super Puff. A month prior, she opted for a Calvin Klein quilted maxi puffer jacket.
