Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo continued their method dressing streak at the premiere of “Wicked” on Thursday in New York City. The stars of the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical hit the red carpet event, joined by a bevy of A-list stars and their fellow cast members.
For the occasion, Grande opted for a custom pink satin gown courtesy of Louis Vuitton. The strapless dress featured a sweetheart neckline with a fitted, corseted bodice. The dress also included a peplum element at the waist, which extended into fabric ruching with a bubble hem.
The skirt of the dress included a column silhouette. Grande coordinated her dress with matching pointed-toe heels. The singer and actress wore glittering pieces of jewelry, including earrings and a choker necklace. Grande’s look was curated by stylist Mimi Cuttrell.
For her attire, Cynthia Erivo opted to give the popular dark glamour red carpet trend a slightly sheer twist. The Oscar-nominated actress and Tony Award winner wore a custom gown courtesy of Christian Dior.
The gown featured a voluminous skirt, a cinched waist and a strapless bodice. Over the bodice, Erivo styled a semi-sheer, long-sleeve top with a turtleneck. She accessorized with bold rings, earrings and a string necklace. Her look was curated by stylist Jason Bolden.
During the promotional tour for their forthcoming film, both Erivo and Grande drew inspiration from their characters for their press tour wardrobe. Erivo favored dark glamour looks, reflecting her character Elphaba, while Grande embraced an array of pinks and feminine silhouettes, nodding to her character Glinda.
“Wicked” chronicles the origin stories of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch from “The Wizard of Oz.” The film costars Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. “Wicked” hits theaters Nov. 22.
