Jacksonville Jaguars considered a 'wild card' in NFL draft, per Adam Schefter

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jacksonville Jaguars are considered a “wild card” in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft.

Is it a slam dunk that the Jacksonville Jaguars will take Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham with the fifth overall pick, as many mock drafts suggest?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that may not be the case.

With draft week here, Schefter emptied his draft intel notebook, and among the topics covered were the Jaguars and what they are going to do at pick No. 5. As one NFL executive told Schefter, there is a lot of unknown around the Jaguars.

“Jacksonville is a wild card — watch,” the exec told Schefter.

On the outside, there is growing buzz around the Jaguars taking Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Offensive line, whether that be Will Campbell or Armand Membou, could be in play as well. The Jaguars would address the floor of the offensive line unit in free agency, but either of these players would address the ceiling.

In addition to those prospects, a few mock drafts here and there have had the Colts taking tight end Tyler Warren or linebacker/pass rusher Jalon Walker.

However, when further discussing the Jaguars, Schefter went in a different direction and mentioned Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

“Jaguars coach Liam Coen has long had a soft spot for wide receivers in the draft, and the top-rated wideout in this class, Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan, has drawn comparisons to … the Bucs’ Mike Evans. Coen, who coached Evans last year, knows how valuable a player like that can be to an offense,” Schefter wrote.

The Jaguars very much need to address the wide receiver position, but when it comes to taking McMillan at fifth overall, value-wise anyway, this may not be the prudent move.

Along with picking one of these aforementioned prospects, Schefter also listed the Jaguars as a trade-down candidate as well in the first round. It does truly sound like just about anything is in play for the Jaguars.
