Queen Maxima of the Netherlands gave her whimsical style a tropical spin while attending the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, Netherlands, on Sunday. The royal was joined by members of her family for the sporting event.
Queen Maxima paired a pistachio green blouse with three-quarter-length sleeves with white trousers featuring cape elements and palm branches in a similar shade of green leaves. The trousers included a high-waist silhouette with flowing fabric, maintaining Queen Maxima’s signature sartorial whimsy with a seasonal approach.
As for the rest of her ensemble, Queen Maxima favored several designer pieces to complete her look. The royal added an embroidered cape coat from the fall 2021 collection of Zeus+Dione, along with a pair of wedge sandals in ivory courtesy of Valentino.
Queen Maxima continued her summertime, whimsical sartorial style with a pair of Calia earrings in white by Cult Gaia and completed her look with a pair of Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses. While attending the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, Queen Maxima posed for photos with members of her family, including husband King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, the couple’s 19-year-old daughter Princess Alexia and nephew Count Claus.
Among European royal women, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands’ style stands out for the use of patterns, florals and whimsy. The royal often favors pieces courtesy of Belgium fashion house Natan, which feature ornate designs and playful use of ornate, feminine details.
But while Queen Maxima’s style ordinarily favors whimsy, the royal has been known to pair down the aesthetic from time to time. When wearing a royal power suit for a daytime occasion, for example, Queen Maxima will go full monochrome.
The royal’s attire for the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, however, demonstrates how Queen Maxima maintains her evocative sense of style while marrying pieces with seasonal trends and aesthetics. Queen Maxima’s royal wardrobe and eccentric pieces seamlessly incorporate versatility.
